Privacy Policy — UnScroll

Last updated: September 20, 2025

UnScroll (also referred to as "we", "us", or "the App") is designed to help you stay mindful and productive by preventing doomscrolling through short video content in selected apps. This Privacy Policy explains what information UnScroll accesses, how that information is used, and the choices you have.

Key features

How UnScroll works

UnScroll uses the Android Accessibility API to detect UI elements that indicate short video content (for example: "Reels", "Shorts", or similar screens) and then performs an action (such as navigating back) to prevent the short-video experience from continuing. To operate, UnScroll requests your explicit permission to run as an Accessibility Service. You must enable this permission for the app to function.

What data UnScroll accesses

Accessibility events: To detect short-video screens, UnScroll receives accessibility events from the Android Accessibility API while the Accessibility Service is enabled. These events describe the UI structure and content of the currently visible screen so the app can identify short-video indicators.

Apps you choose: UnScroll only acts on the apps you explicitly select in the app's settings. It does not scan or act on other apps.

What we do NOT collect or transmit

Local processing & storage

All detection and action logic runs locally on your device. UnScroll does not require an account and does not send accessibility event data to external servers. Any configuration you make (for example, the list of apps where the service is enabled) is stored locally on your device.

Permissions

UnScroll requires the Android Accessibility permission to operate. The app may also request standard permissions necessary for normal operation (for example, to show notifications). You will be prompted by Android to grant these permissions; you can revoke them at any time in Android settings.

Third-party services

If UnScroll integrates (now or in future versions) with third-party services (such as analytics or crash reporting), we will disclose those services and any data shared in-app release notes and settings. At present, UnScroll's core functionality does not transmit user or accessibility data to third parties.

Security

We take reasonable measures to keep local data used by the app safe on your device. However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

UnScroll is not directed to children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under the applicable age has provided personal information to the app, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete that data.

Retention and changes

Since UnScroll does not collect personal data on servers, there is no server-side data to retain or delete. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

How to disable UnScroll

You can fully disable UnScroll at any time by revoking the Accessibility permission for the app in Android Settings → Accessibility → UnScroll (or by uninstalling the app). Once permission is revoked, UnScroll will stop detecting or acting on any apps.
